Data Architect

We are looking for an experienced Data Architect to support a major data architecture and modernization initiative within the Wallonia-Brussels region.

Role Overview

• Support a major data architecture and modernization initiative.
• Analyze the existing data landscape and identify gaps and pain points.
• Define the target data architecture and implementation roadmap.
• Work closely with Business Analysts, Enterprise Architects, Solution Architects and Data Engineers.
• Provide architecture recommendations and support decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Map data sources, applications, repositories and data flows.
• Create conceptual and logical data models.
• Identify Master Data, Systems of Record (SoR) and data ownership.
• Define data architecture principles and standards.
• Assess and compare Data Hub, Lakehouse, Data Mesh, Data Fabric and Virtualization approaches.
• Define rules for APIs, Events, Replication, Virtualization and Analytical Feeds.
• Identify data quality issues, duplication, silos and other gaps.
• Define data governance prerequisites, including roles, metadata, cataloguing and access rights.
• Build a prioritized and actionable data roadmap.
• Prepare architecture documentation, recommendations and decision materials.
• Facilitate workshops with business and technical stakeholders.

• Comfortable working with business, technical and governance stakeholders.
• Strong workshop facilitation and communication skills.

• Experience in the public sector and/or education domain is an advantage.
