Data analyst

Nexeo is currently looking for a Data Hub Business Analyst – Initiative Owner to join the Data & IT team of one of our leading clients in Brussels.

You will join a data-driven transformation environment, acting as a key link between business stakeholders, Product Owners, architects and technical teams. You will be responsible for driving business analysis initiatives from ideation to delivery, with a strong focus on data flows, requirements, testing, solution validation and continuous improvement.

Your Responsibilities

Business Analysis & Initiative Management

• Drive business analysis activities from ideation to delivery, including business case development, requirements gathering and solution improvement.
• Translate business needs into clear, structured and actionable requirements.
• Work with stakeholders to define and prioritize business needs, use cases and expected outcomes.
• Continuously challenge and improve solutions based on evolving business requirements and user needs.
• Ensure alignment between business objectives, project scope and technical implementation.

Data Analysis & Process Mapping

• Analyze and map existing data flows, user roles, processes and data usage.
• Identify data quality issues, gaps, inconsistencies and improvement opportunities.
• Define target solutions and relevant business and data use cases.
• Contribute to the definition of target data models and solution concepts.
• Analyze dependencies and impacts between data sources, processes and applications.

Requirements & Stakeholder Management

• Collaborate closely with Product Owners, architects, SMEs and development teams.
• Facilitate workshops and discussions to gather, clarify and validate requirements.
• Ensure strong alignment between business stakeholders and technical teams.
• Maintain requirements traceability throughout the project lifecycle.
• Assess the impact of requirement changes and manage related dependencies.
• Act as the key liaison between business and IT teams.

Testing & Solution Validation

• Translate business requirements into test conditions, acceptance criteria and test scenarios.
• Support product testing, performance testing and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
• Participate in test preparation, execution, defect analysis and follow-up.
• Support solution validation and quality reviews of prototypes and delivered solutions.
• Ensure that final solutions meet agreed business, functional and data requirements.

Delivery, Reporting & Continuous Improvement

• Facilitate delivery activities across analysis, testing, implementation and change management.
• Support the creation of reports and dashboards to provide relevant business insights.
• Monitor initiative progress, dependencies, risks and deliverables.
• Support change management and adoption of new data solutions and processes.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of data products, processes and ways of working.

Your Profile

• At least 4 years of relevant experience as a Business Analyst, Data Business Analyst or in a similar role.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, or equivalent professional experience.
• Proven experience working in data, IT or digital transformation projects.
• Strong experience in requirements management and stakeholder management.
• Proven project management and coordination skills.
• Good understanding of business processes and workflows.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to translate complex business needs into clear requirements.
• Experience working with both business and technical stakeholders.
• Good understanding of Agile delivery environments.
• Experience in banking and financial services is an advantage, particularly knowledge of insurance products and activities.

Technical Skills

Mandatory:

• Experience with conceptual modelling techniques and methods.
• Good understanding of data concepts, including Big Data, BI, reporting and dashboarding.
• Good knowledge of IT testing and UAT.
• Proficiency in SQL querying.
• Good knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Understanding of Agile methodologies, including backlog management, sprint planning and MVP mindset.
• Experience with data flow analysis, requirements documentation and process mapping.

Nice to have:

• Familiarity with SAS Enterprise Guide.
• Experience with data architecture and data modelling.
• Experience with BI and reporting solutions.
• Knowledge of data quality and data governance.
