Freelance / Consultant Opportunity – Full Stack Data Platform Engineer

We are currently looking for an experienced Full Stack Data Platform Engineer for a long-term consulting assignment within a large Belgian organization.

The role sits at the intersection of Cloud, DevOps, Data Platform Engineering and Software Engineering, with a strong focus on building, automating and operating cloud-native data platforms.

What we're looking for:

Strong hands-on experience with Python and Shell scripting

Solid expertise in Terraform / Infrastructure as Code

Deep knowledge of the AWS ecosystem: IAM, networking, compute, storage, etc.

Strong experience with Kubernetes and Amazon EKS

Good command of Git and CI/CD pipelines - Bitbucket experience is a plus

Hands-on knowledge of Snowflake administration, including:

• RBAC and security model
• Roles, privileges and resource hierarchy
• Object lifecycle and environment management

Experience managing and provisioning Snowflake through Terraform / IaC

Strong software engineering practices: testing, automation, code reviews, version control and operational excellence

Nice to have:

• Java / Spring Boot
• Apache Kafka
• Event-driven architectures
• Broader Cloud / DevOps / Platform Engineering experience

Important requirements:

• Professional/business-level Dutch and French, both spoken and written
• Previous experience within the public sector
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a cross-functional engineering environment
• Hybrid working model: up to 2 days xlxgzvr of homeworking per week, with 2 to 3 days of onsite presence required

This is a role for someone who is genuinely hands-on - not only designing the platform, but also building, automating, troubleshooting and improving it.
