WHAT YOU WILL DO
Support operations and engineering in all problems they are facing in regard to corrosion and welding
Analyze defects linked to corrosion
Make proposals on how corrosion can be prevented and how materials need to be selected
Assist as an expert in reliability studies
Set up corrosion prevention programs and make proposals for PPM (preventive and predictive maintenance)
Do internal inspections of equipment during turnarounds and share information with our Notified Body
Create a network towards companies, laboratories, and universities specialized in corrosion
Set up an inspection and test plan (ITP) and QA/QC for all welding activities linked to the manufacturing of new equipment; review manufacturing documentation and plan, coordinate, and conduct inspections locally and internationally for welding activities linked to the manufacturing of new equipment
Requirements
Engineer in material science (Burgerlijk Ingenieur Materiaalkunde) (dr. ir. or ir.) with at least 10 years’ experience in an industrial environment
Strong knowledge in corrosion phenomena (general corrosion, stress corrosion cracking, pitting, …)
Strong knowledge in material selections
Experienced with corrosion in following mediums is an advantage: inorganic components s.a. sulphuric acid, oleum, ammonium sulphate solutions, … and organic components s.a. cyclohexane, cyclohexanone, formic acid, …
Strong relations towards companies, laboratories and universities specialized in corrosion and material selection
Experienced in applied welding techniques
Experienced in the interpretation of non-destructive testing (NDT) s.a. penetrant testing(PT), ultrasound testing (UT), radiography testing, magnetic particle inspection, eddy current testing, …
Experienced in the evaluation of material defects s.a. fatigue, brittle fractures, …
Strong knowledge of phase diagrams of different types of steel and the link with material properties
Willing to permanently increase your knowledge and to analyze problems
Communication: able to explain highly specialized topics in an easy accessible way; strong verbal communication and writing skills are essential
Likes to work in a team; is client-oriented (client = operations, engineering)
Knowledge of English (reading, speaking, writing) is a must
Willing to travel (e.g. for inspections during manufacturing of new equipment)
